Director’s News
October 2008
Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that we have been in school almost one full month. The changing weather reminds us that a new season has begun. I am certain that your lives at home are much different from a month ago- getting up early, making lunches and coordinating our week takes a lot of effort. I would like to congratulate all of you for getting your children to school on time and fully prepared for their day at school. They are so happy to arrive at school and so pleased to see your smiling faces at the end of their day.
In Assembly and in our classrooms the staff has been discussing the value of decisiveness. We have all had the opportunity to speak with the students about both good and poor decisions, right and wrong, how decisions affect other people, and just being able to stand by a decision they have made. I have read a passage from Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Peter Rabbit as well as my favorite Robert Frost poem, The Road Not Taken. Please share with us any ideas or quotes you may have on values. We would love to gather more ideas. October’s value is Punctuality. I look forward to preparing for this month’s assemblies.
On Friday, October 3rd Mr. Feinstein will give a presentation on chess. He is looking forward to discussing his passion and beliefs in the educational and developmental importance of chess on young children. This presentation is the first in a monthly series we are introducing to our parents this year. During the second monthly morning Mrs. Newman will present Carden Math. Following that I have asked Mrs. Sullivan to give a language arts presentation. I will let you know the times and dates for the winter as we set them up. We hope to choose a variety of times during school hours which will work for both the parents and the staff who are participating. Many of our teachers are excited to share the Carden curriculum and their special enrichment classes with our parent body.
Lastly, I want to let you know of a change in our office. Mrs. Eymann has agreed to take on some more administrative duties to support our school goals and has moved into the inner office. Mrs. Price is helping us temporarily until we find the right clerical person for our school community. If you have questions regarding ASC billing or FACTS tuition, please do continue to phone Mrs. Eymann directly. She will be working directly with our volunteers and helping me with the many issues surrounding admissions and the day to day operations of our school.
For now, enjoy the beautiful month of October. It is my favorite time of year.
My warmest regards,
